Introducing the Scuba Duo

We spent the last month in Útila while Keith completed his PADI Instructor Development Course and Instructor Examination to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor!

For the last three years, we’ve already been working as an instructing team, with myself as the instructor and Keith as the divemaster. With this upgrade, we are now an instructor duo.

This gives us additional flexibility while teaching scuba. We could teach courses completely independently, or tag-team a single, larger group. We can choose whatever makes the most sense for a given group, dive site or water conditions.

And while in Útila, I completed the IDC Staff Instructor course. This gives me the ability to certify PADI Assistant Instructors, and assist Course Directors with IDCs. I’m looking forward to tackling that in the future.

So here we are, PADI instructors Keith and Matt, the Scuba Duo!
